  • Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is a rare cause of stroke that predominantly affects women of reproductive age and those with prothrombotic conditions.1
  • Patients with CVST have a high risk for seizures.
  • Predisposing factors include the use of oral contraceptives, pregnancy, prothrombotic conditions, infections, prior neurosurgical procedures, head trauma, malignancy, and obesity.1 (See Table 1.)
