    • Improved survival rates in children born prematurely and those with chronic conditions, cancer, and genetic syndromes
    • Increased use of central venous catheters (CVCs) for chemotherapy, chronic medications, and total parenteral nutrition
    • Increased availability of noninvasive diagnostic modalities
