Corticosteroids are among the most powerful and commonly prescribed medications in urgent care—but their benefits come with serious risks. In recent years, steroid prescribing has increased dramatically, often for conditions where they’re unnecessary or even harmful.

Corticosteroid Stewardship in Urgent Care Practice equips you with the evidence, insight, and practical tools to prescribe corticosteroids judiciously—ensuring every decision you make is grounded in science, safety, and stewardship.

Build Confidence in Corticosteroid Decision-Making

Overprescribing corticosteroids can lead to avoidable complications, poor patient outcomes, and long-term health consequences. Yet under-prescribing or hesitation in indicated cases can also delay recovery.

In this focused, 35-minute, expert-led course, urgent care leaders Dr. Christopher Chao, MD, and Lyndsie Watkins, PA-C, walk you through real-world case examples and research-backed frameworks for appropriate corticosteroid use in the outpatient setting.

With Corticosteroid Stewardship in Urgent Care Practice, you will:

  • Identify the key drivers behind the rising trend of corticosteroid overuse
  • Recognize short-term risks such as infection, hyperglycemia, and psychiatric side effects—even from brief courses
  • Understand the long-term, cumulative effects of inappropriate steroid exposure
  • Learn evidence-based indications for corticosteroid use in urgent care
  • Clarify conditions where corticosteroids are NOT indicated
  • Master patient education strategies to improve compliance and trust
  • Hear expert perspectives from the field in an exclusive bonus podcast discussion
