EB Medicine Launches New CME Program to Promote Patient Safety and Reduce Risk in Emergency Departments

ED CLEAR™ blended learning program to be introduced at ACEP Scientific Assembly.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 19, 2016 – Norcross, GA – EB Medicine will showcase its new risk reduction CME resource, ED CLEAR™ (Clinical Learning to Eliminate Avoidable Risk), October 16-19 at the ACEP Scientific Assembly 2016 in Las Vegas. The program employs data and evidence-based learning materials that prompt critical thinking and limit liability, resulting in improved resource utilization, fewer missed diagnoses, and reduced claims and malpractice costs.

ED CLEAR’s blended learning modules include three key components:

1. A video featuring John Bedolla, MD, a practicing emergency physician who specializes in risk management: Dr. Bedolla monitors and researches all major malpractice cases involving EDs nationwide to determine high-impact topics. He interviews experts about how to diagnose, treat, and document high-risk conditions such as TIAs, testicular torsion, and appendicitis, with an emphasis on clinical decision-making methods proven in practice.
    
2. An evidence-based journal article to further inform and reinforce the video content: Each article is subject to peer review and the same rigorous quality standards upheld by EB Medicine, publisher of Emergency Medicine Practice and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Practice.
    
3. A CME test: Each article, in combination with the corresponding video segment, qualifies for 4.5 CME credits upon passing the test. The six-module annual series carries 27 CME credits.
