David J. Rosenberg, MD, MPH, FACP, SFHM

Dr. Rosenberg actively teaches and practices hospital medicine. Under his leadership, the hospitalist program at North Shore has more than tripled the volume of patients while reducing length of stay. He has developed an interdisciplinary rounds program (daily peer review and utilization), which has significantly reduced length of stay while improving care.

He is currently investigating novel approaches to improving the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in hospitalized patients, and he is researching hospitalist-focused antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.

Dr. Rosenberg serves as co-chair of the Anticoagulation Safety Committee at North Shore University Hospital As chair of the Respiratory Illness Team at North Shore University Hospital he helps develop ways to improve the care of patients admitted with pneumonia or COPD. Additionally, he has participated in a wide range of quality improvement initiatives, including the development of an EtoH withdrawal protocol, process Improvement initiative for nurse-physician communication, care transitions from inpatient to outpatient settings, and standardized admission and transfer order sets.

Dr. Rosenberg also participates in a robust amount of teaching activities. Such activities and appointments include primary faculty staff member for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at North Shore University Hospital and site director for second- and third-year medical students. He has assisted with the development of curriculum and conference presentations, and has presented nationally on numerous continuing medical education (CME) topics such as VTE prophylaxis, antimicrobial stewardship, and seizure management.

Dr. Rosenberg is a graduate of the SUNY Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine, where he completed his residency and chief residency. He completed a general internal medicine fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and he later received a Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology from Columbia University.

Dr. Rosenberg is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Senior Fellow of Society of Hospital Medicine.
