Daniel D. Dressler, MD, MSc, SFHM, FACP

Dr. Dressler is clinically and academically involved in hospital medicine at Emory University. He served as founding Director of Hospital Medicine at Emory University Hospital for 5 years before assuming the role of Associate Division Director.

In Emory’s School of Medicine, Dr. Dressler actively serves as a Society Advisor for approximately 20 medical students throughout their training. He directs the evidence-based medicine curriculum and Megacode training for the internal medicine residency program. He is an active member of many school committees, including the Internal Medicine Executive Education Committee, Residency Leadership Committee, Residency Clinical Competency Committee, and the Core Competency Improvement Committee.

In 2011, Dr. Dressler received the Emory University Department of Medicine’s inaugural Educator Impact Award and has since been inducted into the inaugural class of the Department of Medicine’s Academy of Medical Educators.

At Emory University Hospital, Dr. Dressler co-chairs the Medical Practice Committee and sits on the Pharmaceuticals and Therapeutics Committee.

Other appointments and accomplishments of Dr. Dressler include course director for the Annual Southern Hospital Medicine Conference since 2005; past Chair and committee member of the Society of Hospital Medicine’s (SHM) Core Curriculum Committee; Member of SHM’s Board of Directors (2009-2012); Course director, SHM’s 2011 Annual Meeting.

Dr. Dressler is co-editor of Principles and Practice of Hospital Medicine (2012) and the Core Competencies in Hospital Medicine (Journal of Hospital Medicine, 2006).

He received his medical training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the same university, followed by a fellowship in Hospital Medicine and a Master of Science in Clinical Research. He is board certified in internal medicine with Focused Practice certification in Hospital Medicine. Dr. Dressler has an undergraduate degree in physics from Duke University.

Dr. Dressler is currently Associate Professor of Medicine, Director of Internal Medicine Teaching Services, Emory University Hospital; Associate Director for Education, Emory Division of Hospital Medicine, Associate Program Director, J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA.
