Adam Vella, MD, FAAP

Adam Vella, MD, FAAP graduated from medical school at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1997 and completed his residency in Pediatrics at Columbia's Babies and Children’s Hospital in 2000. After completing a Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, he returned to New York to practice academic Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2003. He is currently Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, and Medical Education at the medical center. Dr. Vella also became the Fellowship Director of the PEM training program in 2006 and then transitioned to Division Director in 2009. In addition to his clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Vella has been active in the American Academy of Pediatrics for over 17 years. Dr. Vella is currently involved in writing the next edition of Tintinalli's textbook of Emergency Medicine as well as the next edition of a board review book for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine board exam. Dr. Vella served as the Editor-in-Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine Practice from 2012 to 2017.
