Evaluate your clinicians’ readiness and identify clinical knowledge gaps.

Designed for NPs and PAs new to urgent care, the CPI uses 100 questions across 20 clinical content areas—from pediatrics and cardiovascular presentations to x-ray interpretation and stewardship—to assess how clinicians apply their knowledge.

The CPI assesses how well clinicians can:

  • Recognize risk: Identify concerning findings behind common complaints such as chest pain, dizziness, and abdominal discomfort.
  • Choose appropriate care: Select treatments and testing, apply stewardship principles, and make procedural decisions.
  • Determine what happens next: Make decisions about transfer, follow-up, safety netting, and documentation.

Use the findings to inform hiring decisions, focus onboarding, and guide ongoing clinical education.

Understand individual training needs. Identify shared priorities.

One assessment reveals one clinician’s learning needs. Three let you begin to compare individual results, identify clinical education needs that overlap, and see where different clinicians need different support.

The report provides an overall score, category scores, and question-level responses. CPI categories map to relevant EB Medicine courses and journal issues, giving leaders a practical starting point for focused, individualized training plans.

Provided after your completed consultation. Available to organizations with 10 or more clinics.

Who is the CPI designed to assess?

The CPI is designed for NPs and PAs new to urgent care, including experienced clinicians entering the setting. Its 100 questions evaluate clinical knowledge, reasoning, and medical decision-making across 20 clinical content areas.

Why are three assessments included?

Three assessments let you begin to compare individual results, identify shared clinical education needs, and see where clinicians need different support. They provide a starting point for training discussions, rather than a complete picture of your entire organization.

What will we receive in the assessment results?

The report includes an overall score, category scores, and question-level responses. CPI categories map to relevant EB Medicine courses and journal issues to help inform focused, individualized training plans.

What happens during the consultation, and when do we receive the assessments?

During the free, 30-minute Knowledge Gap Consultation, our group sales team will discuss a clinical knowledge gap relevant to your urgent care organization, work through its potential cost, and consider how the CPI could help focus education. Your organization receives the three free assessments—a $750 value—after completing the call.

Does the downloadable PDF include the assessment?

The PDF explains what the CPI measures, how it was developed, and how your organization can use it. It is available without a form. Access to the three clinician assessments is provided separately, after your completed consultation.
