Acutely ill IBD patients may present with varying degrees of dehydration, sepsis, and/or shock. Hemodynamically unstable patients should be transported rapidly, with large-caliber intravenous access secured and fluid resuscitation initiated. Monitoring and oxygen therapy should be applied per protocol.
