Patients With Known Cardiac Disease

In the European Society of Cardiology syncope guidelines (for adult patients), it is recommended that all patients with syncope who have known structural heart disease should be admitted for further workup. The Canadian Cardiovascular Society made similar recommendations. The incidence of heart disease in children is estimated to be 0.7% to 1%.11,81 At this time, there are no clear guidelines about routine admission for pediatric patients.
