The incidence of TGA ranges from 5.2 to 10 per 100,000 patients per year.11-14 The mean age of TGA patients is 65 years. The highest risk factor for TGA appears to be the occurrence of a past TGA event, with yearly recurrence rates ranging from 2.5% to 5.8%, representing an approximately 1000-fold increased risk over the baseline population. Longer-term recurrence rates of up to 14.1% have been reported.15 Other risk factors include advanced age and/or a history of migraine headaches.8,16
