Airbag-related injuries in the pediatric population were first well described in 1995 in a report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. 152 In this report, 8 cases were described in which children who were in relatively minor MVCs died of cervical spine and intracranial injuries as a result of airbag deployment. All 8 of these children would have survived had it not been for the deployment of the airbags.
