Prehospital care personnel should first ensure adequate airway, breathing, and circulation. Medics should splint suspected fractures before moving the patient and vstraighten severely angulated fractures. Confirm neurovascular status in injured extremities prior to and after splinting. Helmets should be stabilized rather than removed in the field unless the helmet prevents control of a bleeding site or airway management.
