Synopsis

This randomized controlled trial compared the efficacy of using topical application of the injectable form of tranexamic acid (TXA) to the use of anterior nasal packing (ANP) in patients taking antiplatelet medications who presented to the emergency department (ED) with epistaxis. Results showed that epistaxis treatment with topical application of TXA resulted in faster bleeding cessation, less rebleeding at 1 week, shorter ED length of stay, and higher patient satisfaction compared to ANP.
