Evaluation of the pediatric patient with headache presents a unique set of challenges in both diagnosis and treatment. The prevalence of children with headache reaches almost 60%, with approximately 7% migraine. Before puberty, boys tend to suffer migraines more frequently than girls; however, that ratio reverses during puberty.125,126 While the ICHD-2 classification is still valid, it can be difficult to apply in the pediatric population.
